At a talk about living in London, we were told that Brick Lane (E1) is really good for cheap Indian food. The next day, my friend, Tanya, and I went to check it out. The speaker told us that they would be really desperate to get us into their restaurant. We looked at three restaurants in a row. At each one, there was a man outside telling us why we should come to his restaurant instead of the others (comparing portion sizes/number of dishes to choose from, offering free drinks, etc). We ended up going to Cinnamon--with a round of drinks on the house. I had samosas, chana masala, naan, and Indian beer for 6.95. Very, very good.
